cockroach found in kitchen

Have you ever heard the saying, "A stitch in time saves nine?" Have you ever wondered: “What on earth is that supposed to mean”? What is a "stitch in time?" How does this mysterious thing save nine? And, oh yeah, nine WHAT? Well, let's just say this. A stitch in time saves nine has nothing to do with the space/time continuum. This saying actually comes from a time when people sewed items by hand. A stitch in time is when you have discovered a small hole or tear and you immediately take action by putting one stitch in the item, solving the problem. No more hole. However, if you do not take care of the hole and, instead, wait a few days, the hole will need more stitches, perhaps three, five, or maybe nine (which just happens to rhyme with time.)

So you get the idea. Take action immediately and solve the problem easily and cheaply, or wait and end up with more work, more lost time, and more lost money. This is true of just about anything in life--including getting rid of cockroaches.

When you see one cockroach…

Let's say you go to the kitchen late one night and switch on the light to see one cockroach scurry away under a counter. Do you suppose this is the only cockroach in your house? No. Chances are if you see one cockroach, then there are more living inside your walls. Many, many more! And for the following reasons, getting rid of them immediately is the best course of action.

  • Cockroaches are carriers of some serious diseases, including but not limited to: salmonella, dysentery, and gastroenteritis. They spread these diseases through their feces and secretions.

  • These bugs can cause asthmatic reactions in some people. Their discarded skin becomes airborne and turns into a bronchial irritant.

  • Cockroaches will eat almost anything including: sewage, hair, books, and items in your cupboard.

  • Cockroaches are rapid breeders. If left unchecked, a cockroach infestation can quickly become a major risk to your family's health and safety.

  • Although rare, some cockroaches have been found to bite humans.

  • Also rare, there have been reported cases of cockroaches entering a person's body parts, such as the ear or nose.

One stitch or many? It's up to you.

Although there are many things you can do to prevent a cockroach infestation, getting rid of them on your own once they've invaded is extremely difficult. The best way to deal with this problem is to call a professional pest control company right away. This will save time, energy, and expenses down the road. The experts here at Big Blue Bug Solutions have been helping folks eliminate household pests for more than 75 years, and we would be more than happy to help you as well. Don't let one stitch turn into 9 (or 900,000.) Take care of that cockroach problem today.
