Summer is just a few weeks away, and if you’ve lived here in South Portland long enough, you’re probably well aware of what pest problems are brought with the more tolerable summer temperatures. Ticks are hardy parasites that can cause a variety of illnesses, including Lyme disease. Reports of Lyme disease are on the rise and it is considered the most common tick-borne illness in the United States. Upwards of 20,000 people are diagnosed each year.

June is here, and with it comes the warm summer weather. After a long winter (and spring), the residents of South Portland definitely won’t protest some beautiful sunshine and nice weather. However, it is important for residents of South Portland to know that with the warmer weather comes a multitude of pest threat, one of the greatest being ticks.
